If It Fits Your Macros – IIFYM and Binge Eating Disorder

Having struggled with binge eating disorder (BED), which I suspect originated from my childhood where I was taught to use food for comfort, discovering IIFYM may have just saved my life. I learned I can love food, love my body and find new ways to comfort myself. The first time I heard about counting macros was from Alan Aragon, not just another ‘fitness guru’ but an actual academic researcher.

I read upon IIFYM, figured out my macros (calculators such as IIFYM.COM) and registered at My Fitness Pal to track my foods and macros.

Being able to enjoy all foods while at the same time remaining healthy, losing over 10kg or 22lbs of fat and getting a more muscular physique made me feel better than ever.
